The plan was hatched in order to keep track of the composition of the Great Barrier Reef and the health of the reef itself. This will allow scientists and the public to explore the reef for leisure and environmental purposes.
If you’ve ever wished to do armchair travelling underwater, Catlin’s SeaView is your perfect adventure. Check out the current images in order to get a taste of what it will be like.
When completed, users will be able to pick any location in the reef and go for a virtual dive. This will be possible from smartphones and tablets as well as computers, so it should liven up those long waits at the train station.
Catlin Seaview expect that the project will go ahead in earnest as of September this year. Until then, we still have the preview shots, which are sufficient for a good look around.
In the meantime, take a look at their three-minute video on the upcoming venture.
